Summer in Birmingham provides an array of activities for any age. Whether you like being in the middle of the action or prefer the outdoors, Birmingham has great events and venues. Here are 5 things you need to try this summer:

 

1. Regions Field Regions field

Catch the Birmingham Barons play a home game at Regions Field. The atmosphere is great for all ages.

Thursday Night: Thirst Thursday and Concert Series

Friday Night: Post-Game Fireworks

2. Float Down the Cahaba River

Enjoy floating on a tube down the Cahaba, Alabama’s longest free-flowing river. Limestone Park Canoe Rental near Montevallo offers a intertube rental service. The cost is $10 per person and $5 for an extra intertube for your cooler. Bring Cash!

 

3. Art on the RocksThis event is held at the Birmingham Museum of Art. Art on the Rocks features cocktails, prizes, food, and an up & coming band each night. The cost is $25 to non-members. The dates this summer are June 12, July 10, & August 14  7 PM- 11 PM.

 

 

4. Pepper Place MarketPeaches

This local farmer’s market features around 100 tents of vendors selling everything from strawberries, peaches, & honey to gifts & home decor. The market is held every Saturday from April- December, hours 7 AM-12 PM.

 

5. Red Mountain Park

Red Mountain Park, located off Lakeshore Parkway, has adventurous activities for thrill seekers. The Red Ore Zip Tour is a zip line course that takes around an hour to complete. Cost is $50 per person. The Adventure tower has 80 foot tall climbing walls. Cost is $30 per person. There are also challenging trails for the avid hiker. The park is open daily from 7 AM- 7 PM.
